Remember when you just waited "6-8 weeks for delivery"? No tracking.

By the time something you ordered showed up, you forgot you ordered it.

You really should've saved this thread title for Thursday when it shows up in pieces :hmm:

    Yeah, ain't Fedex great.....
Last guitar I bought showed up 3 days late, and just tossed on the back porch - was supposed to be signed delivery. Plus I was in the living room waiting at the front. Yeesh.

Don't get me started on mail services. I worked for UPS when I was in college and know "how the sausage is made".

In my neighborhood, FedEx is infinitely superior to UPS and the USPS. I have had the UPS guy make deliveries at 7:30 PM, drive by the house without making a delivery (even though UPS tracking would claim a delivery attempt was made), ring the doorbell AFTER leaving a delivery attempt notice and run away to avoid carrying a heavy package up my driveway, leave a signature required piece of mail on my porch with no doorbell, knock or signature request and once I even had to chase after the truck to find out where my package was.

As for USPS, I had a piece of mail that was scheduled for two day delivery show up after 2 weeks. When checking tracking, it said that my address was "unknown" or "illegible". The day after I file a formal complaint with them, my mail shows up in its perfectly legible, printed, original envelope with my correct address, even down to the ZIP +4. Another USPS package was delayed a week as it sat in Jacksonville. After being placed on hold for nearly an hour and speaking to a few people at the post office, the last representative I spoke to said, "Oh, Jacksonville. I don't know what happens there." Google Jacksonville USPS distribution center if you want to understand how a business could possibly lose so much money. Oh yeah, and if you want a really eye-opening experience, go ahead and sign up for USPS Informed Delivery and see what questions they ask you to "confirm your identity".

Back to FedEx, see if you have a FedEx or FedEx Office location near you and have your delivery held for pickup. If I schedule a package delivered to my home, it always gets here the end of the day. (Residential deliveries are always last.) However, my local FedEx office gets deliveries before 10:00 AM so I just drive down the street and pick it up. Oh yeah, they are open 24/7 too so I can pick it up whenever convenient for me.

I've seen this done, not with guitars but by a person that I was
considering for some IT and web design

a notebook and an internet connection and this person was
able to reroute a shipment of office supplies (something harmless)
as a joke, it was sent to my desk, as proof of their capabilities

    imagine the possibilities...

This kinda off point. Many years ago, I saw a guy selling some really cool guitars. He was just getting started on ebay. No creds. I bit. My winning bid was 99 cents. However, shipping was $149. The guy was in Viet Nam. Like I could expect waiting weeks for delivery. Nope. DHL had it on my porch in less than 7 days. Around half the world. Boy, do I have a really funny story about my Mail Man and his purchase of a trumpet and the USPS.

The only experiences I've had with FedEx not delivering as scheduled were early deliveries.
