Anyone here use the Damage Control tube powered pedals. The company is now Strymon. Just looking for info on them and if you can get a good vintage Marshall or Vox overdrive sound from one.
    Thanks!

i had the Womanizer a looooooooong time ago, and wasn't really that impressed. I was young and foolish back then though.

it was more Marshall than Vox - I'm not sure they ever attempted the Vox sound.

There are a lot of good pedals out there for those amp sounds though, without tubes involved.

Cheers! I'm just looking at one that would sound like my amps would flat out.I use an old JMI-Domino Bass amp from `65 and a Marshall 1974X that's got almost all vintage parts and a Rola G12 alnico from 1960.
I've tried alot of valve driven pedals and not really found anything I like that's not bees in a jam jar like most..

yeah, i've had a few myself and they just haven't worked out. If you're after a classic era marshall style sound then the one that springs immediately to mind is the Ramble FX Marvel Drive, demo'd here by Just Nick

we also have the Wampler Plexi Drive

and the Xotic SL Drive, which does a super lead sound AND a super bass sound

now... for Vox sounds, there's the Catalinbread CB30 - i've owned this and liked it.

    again, with just nick!

and the pedal that has me all giddy currently - mine is on the way, last tracked in Montreal, CA - the Wampler Ace Thirty.

    single coils

    and humbuckers

also possibly of interest are the pedals of Lumpy's Tone Shop - he does pedals based on the mid 60s Voxes that aren't the AC30, and also the Supro amps used by Page and Albert Lee.

    his website is here!
