Back to ignoring paying customers while prioritizing personal projects?
No more anticipation at this point. Just regrets.

Whoa, something is definitely up with those inlays now that you mention it.

That's, technically/legally speaking, a steal.... especially because it's 8 months since was already looking ready to go back home.

Why weren't the misaligned inlays spotted before cutting the fret slots? Just not paying enough attention?

I feel like a week was sufficient enough time to respond.

Even communicating through email is a nightmare. At one point it took over 2 months for a response. He may not be posting, but hes still active on the forum.

No offence to MrBeef, but that fretboard swap he's doing it's not really something which does require a degree in unicorns science, and it's something which does require a couple of days to deliver. It's pretty much a thing every pro luthier could do without any problem. Just saying, next time, you should fine someone more close to your location for standard stuff like that. Not that this is helpful in any way, just saying. :)

I'll be looking into what course of legal action I should take. If anyone has any insight, PM me.

Why not try to contact the site admins to mediate with the guy? I think its important for the site to endorse Sponsors which are respecting rules and respecting their customers. I would try a "friendly" attempt like that, before moving for a legal action. At the end of the day, I guess, you knew this guy because of MLP.

I am surprised to read this. Mr Beef (Jim) did a goldtop refinish for me last year, and it was great. His communication was great, and I didn't have any issues with him. Sorry to hear about the issue you are having.

Definitely a drag. I have a guitar I want refinished and I was researching this cat and came across this thread.

I had a past experience where a luthier committed work to me and dicked me over, thankfully in the long run it finally worked out with me getting my money back (in no small part due to the great mods here) but it was a terrible, albeit a learning, experience.

Evo8 - I would definitely suggest alerting Dave and/or Victor, they are great guys and might be able to help you - especially considering this guy is an MLP sponsor with his own sub forum.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

Mods were contacted last week and were looking into the issue. Apparently this isn't the first instance of this guys lack of professionalism/integrity. Now I'm out a guitar and a 50% down payment.

    Those inlays!

It would be understandable if one, or two were off-center, but down the whole damn fretboard?

Up until now, I've seen nothing but top-notch work from Mr. Beef. :dunno:

Sucks that you have to deal with this. We, as a forum, really need some sort of rigorous vetting process for anyone who applies for "Vendor", or "Sponsor" status.

    Hope everything works out, Evo.
