When did Gibson first introduce Custom Buckers?
I have a 2011 Les Paul Custom 1957 reissue in White. Kind of a rare bird as I haven't seen a '57 in this color before. I removed the pickups to see what was installed and they are dated 11/21/2011 Custom Buckers in both neck and bridge.
They sound great. A little hotter than the ones in my R9/R8 historics.

Beano was the first guitar I knew about that had Custombuckers. And I think it was released in 2011.

I believe the origin of the Custombucker comes from the Ron Ellis designed pickups that came in the Lee Roy Parnell Sig LP. They came in the Clapton Beano and Kossoff LP's and then CC models in varied output strengths dependent on the model.
Back then there was a common idea that Custombuckers were simply Burstbuckers with a magnet swap to AIII. They're not. But I do also have a Custombucker set with AV from a custom shop flying V.
More recently (I cant recall which year) the term Custombucker became used with regular R editions as stock pickups.

2013 they became standard RI Pups. Some late 2012's got them as well. Previous to that they were only in specific models as mentioned.

I've had two new '13 LPs with Custombuckers.......both without any markings/stickers on them to identify.......so I wrote CB on each one of the pups..

My high number 2012 R9 has Custombuckers. No stickers at all except for the 'Patent Applied For' decal, and both measure at 8k. Really love them. Have a great vintagey sound and I have no want to replace them. They suit the guitar perfectly.
