frankly i dont give a damn where the mahog is from the one i have is incredible...
dont make me think over it again....
I don't mind where the mahog comes from either, provided it sounds. Everything can be called mahogany nowadays, it doesn't give you any guarantee.
THE GAS is indeed quite strong with those...
Looks to be gone now!
heres another one just arrived also an FM59R in Beryl Red and an amazing 7lbs 10ozs
ok after a good bit of time with these 2 i have to say that I am very impressed.. the ktr NFS weep pickups are the best set of new pickups i have come across, they are beaten only by dryz in my opinion, and even then I am not absolutely certain, having said that at 67000 yen for a set they should sound bloody good, the guitars themselves are just amazing superbly light and resonant, I was not convinced about the tapered neck at first but now i actually prefer it to the fat navigator necks, its a joy to play.. these are right up there with the best navigators, the navs edge them on specs, with honduran backs, and fret binding, but the first 36 or the fm59 edge the navs with a braz board, the nfs weep absolutely kill any set of duncans found in the navs... so we have a new boy on the high end modern top podium....
Where do you see the pickups for 67000 yen for a set?
Put your credit card away Duane and slowly step back from your wallet...........any more pickups and you may have to apply for a vendor status!
**** it Duane, get two sets.
that was the original japanese price with tax, i dont see any currently made new or for sale used..
MODERN VINTAGE GUITARS K&T PICKUP STANDARD
That was for the standard K&T set... AFAIK the NFSs were never for sale separately... and that is the price for each pickup, not the set.
wow ok thanks for that info..
And I believe the "NFS" is Not For Sale..
Love my KTR Standard. But, the 3-way switch is absolute CRAP.. And I wasn't wild about the dime-size pots, either. Those are minor details - I did something about those issues.
Like Mark, incredibly resonant, and quite light. Great neck.
Sound even better with a set of MT-102B.
Musicland Key will be at the Osaka guitar show this weekend and they always have a nice selection of the latest offering from Crews. I am looking forward to trying out a few of them. Musicland also has their own brand of guitars which come with the standard K&T Pickups (as opposed to the NFS run) and they are really nice (Rozalia Urbanity Korina/Gold Tiger shown below). I picked up a set of K&T Weeps that were pulled from one of these guitars yesterday from Yahoo Auctions. My bid was the only one and went unchallenged for less than half the price of a set of new ones... they should be here tomorrow (although I have no idea which guitar they are going in).
I've seen a few of those Rozalias online before. Would be interested to hear about the neck profile on those.
If I had to categorize it, I would give the one I played a 60s tapered profile... which wasn't much to my liking...
Yeah, at least the latest models are being made by Deviser.
Saw them making those when I visited the factory last April.
