BTW- plugged it in for the first time last night... HOLY S***... much much more than I was expecting. Don't want to admit it... but it beat out my R9... sustain, sound, and smiles per dollar.

    Spot on!

To be fair to my R9, i need to change the old strings and set the intonation after doing some set up lol... but it was just a lot of fun playing the budokan and it is a very cool looking guitar with the three double creams. Have to give Dimarzio their due!

I found one of these in brand new condition that I will be purchasing on Thursday. I was wondering what color the pickup rings are actually considered if I wanted to fix the possible picking ring height problem. Are they considered cream? And I from what I read, I would want a neck sized ring.

I found these and was going to go with one of the options. Any advice?

    Thanks!

They are cream, however they dont match the colour of the Humbucker bobbins.
Get an Epiphone Cream neck pickup ring to match the rings.
however if you want go match the pickup bobbins then get 3 Gibson Historic Cream rings, and be prepared to pay an awful lot of money for the privilege.

Modern 'creme' Dimarzios have an awful pink tint.

Drives my OCD mad when trying to get colour matched pickguard and pickup rings... :laugh2:

And regarding Gibson Historic parts... I'd never pay more than a tenner for a standard LP pickguard.

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify for those of you that have the guitar in front of you, do you feel as though my ebay link or the musicians friend link match the rings on this guitar?

Oh and as long as this guy doesn't back out, it looks like I'll be owning number 153.

    The Budokan thread...such fond memories.

Are you purchasing a Budokan that has funky pick-up rings? I can't believe it!

I have a question.... I haven't seen it addressed before.
I am on the list as owning #151, and 554. I just recently aquired one that was originally purchased from Ace's site and is not part of the 1000 sold to the general public. Long story short, I did some research and found out through Epiphone that Ace was given about 20 guitars to sell on his site. He autographed them on the guitars themselves. The coa is different from the others as it is written that it is a hand signed instrument and has no place for any number out of 1000 anywhere on the coa.
My question is: How many of us own such guitars and would anybody be interested in posting pics of them??? Kind of an off shoot of this list to account for all epi Budokans!

I'm sad to say that I'm leaving this family. #747 is being sold tomorrow. I've decided to unload all my signature models, including the Budokan. There is a Gibson R8 calling my name loudly, and I need the funds....
