Well, since we have a "Coolest Bass Lines" thread, and being accustomed to the rhythm section, i thought i'd start this thread!

I want us to try and focus on the 'bigger picture' of songs, in a way. Those kinds of riffs and progressions that can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, or even affect you at an emotional level... thing's like that.

Let's see what you guys have got :thumb:

Here's a few off the top of my head...

This one is a cracker... i think you should check this one out especially... i just think the intruments compliment each other perfectly.

This song really comes alive from 3:00 onward especially...

I'll also agree with "The Reason" :) That Doug and Dan definately know what they're doing with those chords. You just sometimes have to be patient and listen to songs in there entirety.

I like a I-IV-V progression jazzed up to be I-IV-II-V-I-II-IV-I-V.

This makes me want to vomit. Jazzing up a I IV V progression is a sin. :laugh2:

As much as I hate listening to jazz, I have been playing a lot of it lately.

It's really just adding the II. The II-IV builds some nice tension. You can play it jazzy or rock the shit out it. I got it from a song by Savoy Brown that rocked pretty hard, on the "Live in Central Park" album.

some great songs guys! keep 'em coming!

I also highly recommend listening to this song, a soft and meaningful one, not typical of the band. I love how the piano follows the vocals into the song, and the entire song builds up nearer the end. Giving me shivers right now listening to it actually :)
