Just because the guy has been made a "VIP" here doesn't mean he's going to start coming on here and posting everyday. I really don't think MLP is his thing to be honest but that's okay. I didn't exactly see an acceptance speech and I just have a feeling he maybe never even saw this thread...

Which is part of my point. He signed up the second week of March. The only insight he's given up to this point was to sell a pair of PAF clones. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a big acceptance speech.

There are people who have developed skill, ability, and expertise
in a specific area, which in turn gains them some level of notoriety.
Some develop their talents to play, some to build, others to repair
or modify. Some take what is common, and improve upon it to the
point it is uncommonly good. Others gain and retain knowledge and
sharpen their skills in analysis, and advance to the point that they are
better than the average or typical enthusiast. When these people take
time to join a Forum such as MyLesPaul, it does not go un-noticed.
MyLesPaul appreciates everyone that chooses to spend time on this
Website. When someone who has made significant contributions
to the community at large decides to spend time with us, Alex may
recognize that person by awarding VIP Status.
It is simply a small banner next to your name to alert Forum members
who may not be familiar with you, that the Forum Staff acknowledges
this member as someone who is accomplished in the guitar community.
It is MyLesPaul’s way of saying to Joe Ganzler that we recognize your
accomplishments, and we appreciate you posting on this Forum.

Ganz is pretty well established now. Ten years ago not that many folks knew who he was. Even back then he was a Les Paul slut.

Give credit where credit is due. Not that many folks would put their ass on the line for a small percentile of the amount it takes to fund such a transaction.

In as far as I know he's never made a mistake on a Les Paul Standard authentication. In as far as 'burst go there really isn't much doubt in his overall knowledge and expertise. He's one of the best , IMO. :thumb:

What'll happen if he gets one wrong? Lyrics wise I think 'his lady' would be the guitar in question...

I though it was more like the "verified" Twitter accounts, so you know that's the actual person and not someone posing as them, using their name.

Ganz is a great dude. He's great on the other forum and provides the community with great info and big humor.

This thread on the other hand, pretty cheap. He's most likely laughing at it, if he were signed in. I can imagine that some people don't know who he is and are wondering what this is all about. Cheerleading?

He has 8 posts and he already received VIP status? What does that do for a member anyway? Does that VIP status work in real life? What does that tell other members?

I laugh at this. But, I know there are some pissed off people on this forum because of it.

Again, Ganz is awesome and I enjoy and appreciate what he does for the other forum.

    This is curious...

Since Joe's contribution to the vintage Les Paul community is evidenced on-line solely with the "Les Paul Forum."

This is either the most shrewd political move to tacitly seduce a long standing member of a competitive forum, or an incredibly sarcastic, "thanks, but no thanks, Pal!"

I have no idea which it is.

    Whatever the case...CONGRATULATIONS, JOE!

    One thing I do know?

THIS guy needs to be given VIP status:
