The guitar played by Kurt Cobain on the Unplugged in New York album and also supposedly the last guitar he played before he killed himself was lost in a divorce settlement by his daughter Francis Bean. That's pretty crappy. Her ex claims she gave him the guitar as a gift. I'm with the family on this one. That should be a family heirloom. Especially if the douchebag goes and sells it for millions rather than having it stay with Cobain's family.

    Brutal.
It sucks when a divorce turns into a license to steal.

    She has money and connections.

I'd have his knee caps adjusted.

    In a few years.

Once the fallout of the matter settles.

That kid is such a creepy faggot. How dare you take that from her, that's her Dad's guitar. Who does that? :mad2:

He even wore Kurt's old clothes.

    Weirdo.

Can't she just have dear ol' Mom shoot him with a shotgun? It's not like she isn't familiar with the process.... :hmm:

Just have Courtney kill him. Easy fix!

She has plenty of cash. Just buy it back.

I saw he said she gave it to him as a wedding gift. It sounds like she just wanted it to all end. So she settled with that. She gets the house.

I am so upset, I am a big big big Nirvana fan, I learned guitar because of them. Initially I was angry, now I'm saddened. :(

I'm just going to kindly remove myself from this thread.

Wow, a lot of people automatically taking her side, and ignoring he said she gave it to him as a gift.

Even from the article linked in the OP, which pretty much sides a bit with her, has

“It’s not his to take,” Frances’ mother, Courtney Love, previously told TMZ when asked about Silva’s claims to the instrument. She then went on to call the guitar a “treasured heirloom” and said Frances “never planned” on giving it away for good.

Seems Courtney believes he was given the guitar.

Seems to me that when you are married to someone you can "give" a lot of stuff to your significant other. Doesn't mean it is yours to keep. And even if, you'd think someone would be decent enough to give a family heirloom back to someone considering the circumstances.

She also paid him $12K a month during the divorce proceedings for nothing and he is looking for $25K a month in the settlement. Sounds like a total bitch move to me.

I have no problem siding with the family on this one.

Sounds like Francis learned her decision making skills from both parents. "never planned on giving it away for good" ? Is that like "I didn't know the shotgun thing would be permanent ?"

Courtney did such a great job raising her.

So, she just let him "barrow" it? As sleasy as I think this guy is, a gift is a gift.

Add to the fact that FB, by birth, is a multi-millionair, so why was there no pre-nup?

    :hmm:

And the $150 million dollar estate.

    **********

If she wanted the guitar, she could have paid him a million just to go away.

She couldn't have had worse parents to learn from to become a responsible adult. Hopefully she takes better care going forward. But with mental illness in both parents, I would call it a long shot.

No question I think he's a sleazebag (and perhaps a stalker level fan). Yep, a gift is a gift. She should have never gave it, if it was such an heirloom.

Frankly, I'd want nothing to do with it. Bad Karma on that Guitar.
