This might be controversial but I much prefer the sound of the Stratocaster ...
I like them both but in this Demo that Strat sounds killer IMHO.
I'm not sure I'm blown away by either of them. Which leads me to think it's the recording (how the amp/mic are set). Both seem a bit woofy.
........it’s a YT mp3 so who really knows in reality. You’d have be there to really know. The Strat did sound better overall especially the Neck position.
My Strat slays that ‘62 however, so it’s all relative, isn’t it.
62 Strat's play great. They are worth saving up for. They have amazing workmanship in that year, and sound and feel like no other Strat (except for a CS 62 reissue of course).
Here are some photos of my original 1962 Stratocaster:
I'd have the Strat I think
In the les paul shoot out I picked the 53' and that 59'.... the 53' was my #1.... but in this vid I'm picking the strat. My favorite guitars are the late 62' to mid 64' curved boards with black bottom pickups. Considering I've owned 2 I might be biased lol
apples and oranges
In that case I prefer the apple or the orange depending on which you presume is which ...
Maybe woofy, but the dude has chops.
Strat and Les Paul tones. You have to love both.
They both sound really good to me....the strat shines.
Probably not a popular opinion, but I've found it easier to get vintage tones out of a modern Strat than the same scenario with Les Pauls.
