Im not innocent of buying Chinese knockoff carbon fiber bike parts, though.

I mainly stay away from logoed bits, but sometimes you can't get the pieces without the counterfeit name.

I've had parts that worked out great. And one that didn't.

Almost no resin was apparently used in the making of that post.

Even after that experience, I still run knockoff saddles and handlebars.

    YOLO

The saddle, handlebars, bottle cages.... $50 worth of gear that are knockoffs of $700 worth of "brand name" stuff.

You either got lucky or have a really good story for this.

    Or both....

    Just finished watching the video.

That is NOT A GUITAR FACTORY.

That is a Health Care Research Center.
First they induce illnesses and then they do research on the workers.

    Painter doesn't wear a mask.
    Sander doesn't wear a mask.
    Etc.

I just finished as well. Disturbing imo.

I do care where the stuff I buy comes from. Often there is no choice. The race to the bottom will continue to have its negative consequences.

When it came time to buy my Martins I wanted new to help the fine people in Nazareth. Been to the factory three times. I'd love to work there. Factory pics:

Yeah, I find the conditions for those workers far more appalling than the product they make.

And that is why it's worth it to buy American, or at least American-owned.

Your guitar probably didn't contribute to killing anyone in it's manufacturing.

That doesn't look like the proper weave, either.

The best CF stuff uses as little resin as possible, is pressed under >3Klbs of force while heated and/or microwaved. The pressure eliminates all but a little of the resin. However, if the fabric isn't properly impregnated, before squeezing out all the resin, the product will not be good.

CF is easy to make and the difference between the $50 part and the $500 part is probably mostly marketing. CF fabric is CF fabric. It comes in many different weaves and weights. A tube like that might have 7+ layers of CF. It comes already woven in a tube (like Chinese finger cuffs). It's maybe $30 worth of products for me to buy retail. The molds and mandrels cost a little, but it is the vacuums, presses and ovens that cost the most.

You can also buy high quality premade CF tubes, from a number of different sellers. Get one that is just big enough to fit that broken tube into (use a hacksaw to cut all the damaged part of the stem off) and you can repair it. I use West Systems resin (105) and hardner (205 fast hardner).

I believe I saw these very same guitars a few weeks ago.
I stopped in a music store that used to be a good one.
Well . It changed its name and ownership.

I thought there were Gibson's ,PRS and Telecasters hanging on the back wall.

Fooled me until I got up close. They had the name of the store on the head stock.
Owner came out. I asked him what the H ?
He said they were custom made for his store and a great guitar for $200.
    You wanna play one?

I respectfully left in a hurry.

My microwave was not made in China. Is branded Sharp, but when purchased in 1983 think was still manufactured in the first world.
We have sold our souls for cheap shit made by marginally better than slave labor. Rock it shiesse kaufs.

Maybe you don't care about working conditions for the humans there,

But they're chopping down everyone's forests and oxygen generators. Who knows what else is in those forests being destroyed with the lack of regulation and rampant corruption.

just think about what a major company had to do to get plain Indian Rosewood now. And then picture all the sub $200 guitars China cranks out with it.
Where do they get it? I'm sure they're going through the same things as companies forced to care for our works ecosystem

I have no idea, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of Epiphone and Squier (for instance) came out of the same factory.

Yep, the race to the bottom is great! Seeing as how China is a largely closed off business model, we do not know the truth about a lot of its labor force.

I have a GE microwave of similar vintage. There is a stamped aluminium plate riveted to the back: built in Louisville, KY November 1981. Gets used nearly every day and still keeps going.

There are companies that will stick your decal on their stuff in a heartbeat...and they'll print the decals for you...

The guitars are built anyway, regardless if there is a name on the head or one their names.
I could order a small quantity of Skrats with my shop's name or any name I dreamed up on the head, for probably less than a hunnert bucks ea. Any color too... Some of these usa brands you see ads for on FlakeBook of Dork and such, ain't. They don't build shit. Never have...

One might be amazed at what all comes from that electronics manu in China that Uli owns...and what names are silked on em...at that factory....that Uli owns...

Folks will dog cuss his branded stuff (at one time way back, deserved a bit) while they use other stuff that just might really be his stuff but not carrying his name so it's good stuff and not bad stuff because if the same box with this name had his name on it, even though it is the same freaking piece of equip, built on the same line by the same folks, only had a different silk printed on it, it would be bad stuff.... Bullshit.

Some is junk from over there. Some is not. Not dependent on price...

Some badasses building guitars under several brands in Indo... Dunno who but they are badasses... Played guitars from multiple 'brands' that I see the same workmanship in each, though diff style and brand name... I know it's the same freaking craftsmen, same materials, same paint guys, same QC... Badasses....

PRS is selling hell out of guitars, even at their price mark. Not an issue. Extremely high quality...

Other companies doing well selling quality product, some from overseas....

Then there is Gib that seems to have issues from the mailbox out front to the loading dock out back and everywhere in between...

Gib. Quality matched by no one....except that old barefoot chinese guy somewhere in outback China building guitars with a chainsaw and a pet pickled egg.....and of course several hundred other different guitar brands kicking Gib's ass...

I am beginning to think some Gibs are allowed out intentionally by dicks working there...somebody had to stamp the card... Hell of an atmosphere... I would fire QC first.

Inattention and irresponsibility of usa companies are two of the major reasons so many of those guitar mills exist...
