Slightly lower noise floor, touch more pronounced mids. Kyle was smart and started working towards sustainable new product parts that met his tonal standards, since NOS parts would inevitably run out.

    Thanks^
Makes sense. I recall part of my motivation to purchase the grey one when I did was the NOS parts were running out.

Reviving this thread... Just ordered a second hand 2014 gold one today. Looking forward to trying it out. It will take the place of the cali76 compressor on my board, which I love, but playing into two tweeds I don't need much compression

I ran mine with the Cali76...this pedal has a voice of its own, like 3D or something. Hard to explain, but I would hang on to the Cali76 until you get a chance to play the SP for a bit. Just sayin'...

Cool thanks, will try that. Not planning on ditching the Cali... Its a great pedal and for getting great tone at low volume invaluable. When my amps are cooking though I leave it off as there's enough compression already then.

What order did you like them best? I. E. Which stacked into the other?

Most think last, prior to Amp input in Signal Chain, is the best option.
