carving question

    got my top glued on today and was wondering if there was anything special on where to start carving?

    Focus on large sweeping strokes with your scythe. Be careful on the flamier parts because you run the risk of shooting the body like a hockey puck across the shop.
    When I don't feel up to the scythe, I use finger planes, and just work diligently until I get there. 2 tips.
    1) When you cut a channel for the binding (You will want to do this before you carve. Also cut the neck and pickup angles into the top before you carve too), cut a channel for where the top of the binding ends. This will be your carving guide.
    2) carve more off the "belly" than you think.
