    Hi,
I saw some old footage of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and his Les Paul had what looked a bit like fat versions of Burns Trisonic Brian May style pickups with rounded top and bottom and flat circles where pole pieces would be. I can't find any images of them online. I'm curious and would be grateful if anyone knows what they were. Thanks!

Those were the clear plastic bobbin P-90's that Mike took the cream covers off. Under the lights it looks like another pickup.

That sounds like P90's for sure, they rock in a Les Paul.

Thanks, I think that I was fooled by the lighting bit. I'd never seen an opened up P90 before.

Yes! The coils looked like brushed aluminium covers in the light. I hadn't seen a P90 with the covers off before. Thanks!

I had one of these for a while. I really liked it but it was a stunning guitar but too neck heavy for my liking. One of the reasons I posted this was I'm a big fan of Burns and thought someone might have made an equivalent pickup for Gibson. I guess they might sound a bit P90 like in a Les Paul. I bet they'd work well in an SG.
