For anyone who cares I promised an update on my 4 hour long trip to get to a luthier I'd trust with my guitars. Here is my 1989 Samick factory Epiphone Les Paul Custom.

    Changes are:
    • Gibson 57' Classic Vintage & Gibson 57' Classic Plus PUPs
    • Gotoh TOM bridge & tailpiece
    • CTS Metric (8mm) pots & orange drops
    • Switchcraft jack/toggle/input with waxed cloth wire
    • Stainless steel refret and restore of fingerboard
    • Hand cut bone nut
    Before / After shot

Looks great man! How do you like the stainless steel frets? What size fretwire did you go with? I had them on one of my other guitars and loved them. Beautiful guitar!

I'll be honest with you I'm not sure what size wire it is, it's the same size as stock frets on an Ibanez Wizard 3 Neck (jumbo). They feel buttery smooth to bend, the strings just don't dig into them at all like a knife on a modern phone screen. I feel they make the guitar sound brighter than it did before both acoustically and plugged, I didn't believe any of the stories before that SS frets changed the sound but seems like they do.

I never noticed the added brightness with them that people talk about. Then again, the guitar I had them on was built with them so I never heard it without them. I have played several guitars with them and alway liked them a lot. They definitely make bends feel great. Your guitar definitely looks awesome! I bet it plays great.
