    I really didnot need another New Guitar
    Anywayss I was looking at the Gibson Government Guitars.
    I really didnot want the Les Paul or the SG or flying V since I bought them
    a few months ago in other colors.
    Anywaysss I saw the Explorer and thought the Gray was not a bad color since
    I just bought a Charcoal gray Strat that looked good and felt this color cannot be that bad.
    And checking out that it has Dirty Fingers pickups and a Reallll rosewood fingerboard(Not baked Maple} along with a hardshell case and limited that I felt for $999 with
    a 20% off coupon at MF gave me the guitar for $799 with free shipping.
    I see a few say that the Les Paul is a Studio and what about the others?
    If they are also studios I am sure they will be top of the line studios?
    But for $799 I think I got a decent deal and have bought enough guitars till Xmas of 2013....JT

    Checkout the 'eagle with talons on the neck/fb' graphic on the pickguard, that is great. Take a closeup picture of that when you get it, we love this stuff!!!
    Enjoy the Explorer!!!:slash:

    Sorry I am sure they will not ship the guitar till Thursday and hope to have it by Monday or Tuesday(Will upload a few pics}
    I have been reading many think that the Government Guitars are cheap with the Gray.
    Myself I think gray is a good color since it looks good on my 2012 Charcoal Gray Strat.
    Just by reading that it has Dirty Finger pickups(never really heard of them}
    And it has a Hardshell case and a very limited guitar about 150 - 300 being made.
    Makes me feel that it will be a soldout guitar very soon and glad I did not wait too long....
    The Coupon again is PREZDAY99 for others that want a Flying V or SG or even a Explorer for $799.22..............JT

    I also just looked at the MF website
    It looks like the Explorer is Out Of Stock or Back Ordered(I think they are history}
    But they still have the SG (I would pass on that}
    But seems that they are getting Flying Vs in soon(Not a bad looking guitar}
    I am sure you can use a Guitar Center $200 off on a MF product if you call....
    As of now my tracking of the explorer from UPS should be here on Tuesday,,,cannot wait and will post pictures.....JT

    Just saw an SG in the flesh and it reminds me of USN office funiture, but in a dignified way . I actually did kind of like it . Not enough to buy one, but I wouldn't take it to the shop and start stripping or taking the finish off of the guitar, either .

    I have the Gibson Government Les Paul. Man I LOVE this guitar!!! The Dirty Fingers have always been my favorite pickups anyway, and the Grey finish is right up my alley. Another plus with the finish is that you never have to wipe it down. It never shows fingerprints! :thumb:

    Then there's the cool factor of having the original fretboard that was confiscated by Obama and his Tree Hugging Nazi's. :naughty:

    I got mine about 2 weeks ago I guess. I replaced the speed knobs with Black Top Hats, slapped some 11's on her, and got a custom truss rod cover that says Government Series. I put the pick guard on the wall right under the framed COA!

    It is a fine guitar! Maybe the best sounding electric guitar I have ever had. Lot's of personality in this one!

    I agree its a nice guitar and sounds great and the feel is awsome
    For a Guitar that gives you the Dirty Finger pickups
    Hottt Hardshell case in green
    A very cool Gray Color
    Real Rosewood fingerboard
    Very Limited with a COA(but can we trust Gibson with only 100 Vs and Explorers?}
    I don't think you can get a better guitar for $799 - $900 price range with discounts.JT

    Then you won't mind when I harvest 50,000 acres of oak and pine from the White River area next week ?

    Had a gov V delivered to my house about 15 minutes ago . I'm at work now but will be playing it in about 3.5 hrs . I will get some pis and post them later today .
    While the LP and the SG appear to be studios I believe the Vs and the explorers are standard models with different pups and real rosewood fingerboards . What makes a guitar a studio anyway ? The lack of binding and maybe dots instead of block inlays . The standard V and the explorer don't have either unless your talking about the traditional models which have binding .
    At any rate what sold it for me was the fingerboards .I was looking to buy a V anyway and the 2013 have the grenadillo (probably mispelled) fretboards .They may be great but untill I try one I won't know but I know I like rosewood . Can't wait to get home and try it out .

    BTW try sam ash to find these in stock thats where I found mine .
