That sounded pretty cool through the larger speaker.

Dude that looks awesome. Keep us posted. This has me thinking... how crazy would it be to slave a plexi through this thing AND run your iPod through it at the same time!!?? I may have to get one of these myself. :hmm:

Those D-Lab amps are cool The Greta is similar to the amps he makes.

Here is my Greta,it came today. It really does feel like a radio made in the late 30's or early 40's but it is not plastic. The front and back are red lacquered wood as are the feet. The top is gold painted metal. It's pretty heavy for it's size(8.7lbs).

I gotta say 2 watts into a 4 inch speaker is still pretty dang loud for a bedroom amp if you dime it. Still you can get some very satisfying tones at lower volumes too. The external speaker jack mutes the internal speaker but the line out does not. All in all it is a beautifully made little toy.Sounds just like the video.

Congrats on the Greta! They sure sound sweet -

I've been GASsing for one since they were anounced back in January. I think the features are perfect for a small practice amp - love the idea of being able to plug an iPod into it and jamming to tracks. Plus I could see myself using it as a tube preamp in front of my Fender VibroVerb for some nice natural tube overdrive.

The only thing that gets me is the look - I'm a huge fan of the idea of going for a retro 30s or 40s tube radio but the colors they chose cheapen the look, IMO. It almost looks like a bad Christmas decoration. Anyway, not trying to rip it, just giving my opinion on aesthetics. I may break down and pick one up someday regardless.

    Congratz. Lovely little amp.

I like the styling, very classy and a bit wrong I suppose.

I'd love to have that baby sitting next to my all in one pc for amplification and to jam a little. Looks mint.

It's also nice to see that Fender got it right this time. Super low watts and guess what... A choke :)

Choke's are so much better sounding then caps. Fender runs their marketing campaign on vintage this, vintage that, but at least this time they got it right.

So how bout a sweet demo? :p Plz?

Dude it looks like you could go iPod>Greta>line out>louder tube head>4x12 to jam with your tunes at a louder volume.

But would distorting the amp also distort the iPod music?? OP can you do a test and let us know?

A super cool little amp but that "Greta" logo looks more 70s than 40s.

These are going to go like hot cakes.

If I got a Fender Excelsior could it double as speaker cab for the Greta?

Looking at pictures of the back. It looks like the speaker is hard wired. Doesn't mean you can't. Just have to mod it and make sure the speaker is rated properly.

I read this in a review of the Excelsior

"An internal speaker disconnect allows users to plug Excelsior into an external speaker and route the output through that."

Hey guys I have a question and forgive me if it's a dumb one... If you plug the Greta into another amp with higher power using the line out, does the higher powered amp now have 2 watts or does it retain it's normal wattage? To be more specific, I have a Fender Champ 25 SE rated at 25 watts. It has a solid state preamp and 2 6L6s power amp. I was wondering if the Greta would give it the tube preamp tone but still achieve the 25 watts through the power amp. Thanks guys.
