I left him a voicemail, and I am dealing with one person now directly at Gibson instead of the service@gibson.com crapshoot. He is doing some digging and actually seems to care, no serial number exists anymore as we talked about.

According to Brian Brock the information I have is still unconfirmed, although I think I would deem him a worthy source. Brazilian Board, Painted by murphy, 1 of 2, he has the other. We will see what we find...definitely keep this thread updated. Can a moderator move this into the Historic Section since this thread has taken a life of its own and is not for sale? Thx

I could always take a day trip to Marion, IL and just arrive guitar in hand. I mean I live in Chicago...

Maybe it's just me, or I'm paranoid, but it sure seams like Gibson
is hell bent on purging the memory of 2003 from the history books.
If not for Dave Carpenter, we would have very little in the way of
    hard documentation for that year.
    :hmm:

2003, the year Gibson did a lot of things right....can't have THAT in the history books. They need to LOWER expectations for the future!

Why would gibson need permission to make a replica of a guitar they built/??

And therein lies the problem, and why they are being purged from their records!

To fully understand that, you would need to understand the
legal principal of “Intellectual Property” and what it is, that
was purchased. Since this usually sparks a debate, I will just
suggest that you Google it to get a better understanding.

    Frank,

I think I have stumbled across something interesting. I just realized that one of the emails I have from Brian included a picture saying in addition to mine, this one (picture attached) has one of the closer tops I have ever seen. I think its a picture of yours...I am going to send you an email to confirm, and if you want to post it feel free....all photos are blocked at work. :hmm::hmm::wow:

Murphy made a few decisions early on with the

Josh, here's that photo, and yes, it's my guitar that Brian said in his email: "with the closest top I have ever seen". But, as I mentioned to you in an email, it won't be mine for much longer...in fact, I've already scheduled Fedex to come tomorrow and pick it up to take it to its new home. Here's the pic:

althought i just got it, i may have to sell it to put a downpayment on my first house...sooo that is definitely NOT FOR SURE yet, but....it is a thought. PM if you have interest and a value. I am going to fight to not get rid of this piece...but we will see how it goes.

So let me know if their is interest. If you have a regular R9, or a replica, id consider trades too. Still finding out the story, and a possible trade is a couple of months away, makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it.

The one name I have not heard so far in any of this , that I would have
thought to be essential is Edwin Wilson. Is it possible that BOTB Replicas
would even exist without Edwin Wilson being involved in some way?
