Let's see those old pics of you! I'll start off... My first guitar, Christmas morn, circa 1975...a Framus acoustic, with strings about 6" off the fretboard...LOL My first electric, a Crown International Goldtop Darkback LP copy. Awesome guitar, my brother sold it for pot...circa 1978. My first Gibson--a '67 SG Special. I still have it! Pic is 'circa 1982. Dig the LabSeries stack in the background... Ah,the 1980s, a time for pointy guitars and Kramers...Halloween! My first LP...a '76 Custom. Heavy as heck, but it was my #1 for 15 years or so! Circa 1984. That's all for now...your turn! BB
This is where my money went when I was younger instead of spending it on guitars. Somebody needs to teach me how to post more than one picture at a time. My computer skills equal my guitar skills.
Heres another, I'm in front. Everybody wanted their picture taken with the Harley but these are the only 2 pictures that have survived.
My first band May 1967, in standing on my amp already a ham, was in 8th grade and already giging 1968 the second band i was in, Kay bass and Vox Royal Guardsman and Bassman amps, was Freshman in High School Playing a 59 Strat in 1971 during my Ritchie Blackmore days just graduated High School Opening for T-Rex and Blue Oyster Cult concert in Medford Oregon Fall of 74, im on the left on bass, just turned 20
Lab Series!? They sound great. Other guy in my band had a combo... Dunno if he still has it or not. Great pics! Love the blast from the past. I wonder if I have any pics kickin' around....
Me and my best friend jammin' back in the 9th grade. He's actually a bass player, and one of the best I've ever heard or played with, but seems to have given up on it... Me on the acoustic in the 11th grade performing with the girl who means most to me in the world, but never hears that from me... I hate the sit down and play thing, but no strap! Was at a cancer benefit for someone close to me who we lost a couple years after. Old skool compared to now... at least 12 years ago... God knows how old this is... Performing during a wedding ceremony *I hate that stuff, especially Catholic weddings where the music has to be classical, or hymns... Stuffy!* High School photo... Another sit down acoustic performance... Friggin' Tak was too big to play standing up... So I had to buy a thin body.
LOL...he is bit cockeyed, isn't he? Check out his white Kustom amp...coolness. It was a summer "jam" thing, we threw a band together and played behind the base recreation center. I have some funny pics of it--I'll have to scan them and post. I think I was playing the intro to "Black Magic Woman" or something, and he was trying to get the very small crowd into it a bit. The LabSeries was a great amp--I used an MXR Dist +, and it sounded huge. Little did I know that 1 hour South (Memphis) I could have bought a 60's Marshall for less than I paid for the LS stack. Oh well... Great pics everyone! BB
this pic was taken 2 years ago during soundcheck on our little tour of france. the guy with the strat was the rhythm guitar player and bit on the strange side. anway, the money was good.
hahaha heres my oldddddddd school pic! Circa, late 80's, early 90's. I was so cute. What the hell happened!
Those were the days! You really had the look, coldsteal! I remember those shoes and the bell bottoms. Had to have them. Opening for T-Rex and BOC!! That's awesome! You must have been living large..
No doubt, to have opened up for t rex and BOC back in the day ? Thats back when those bands were making the music we all listen to today, awesome.
That was a friggin awesome band i was in, we even had a couple record offers but our stupid ass manager/agent Harry Arnold "held out for a better offer" which never came. We did a mini tour with them and we also toured with Fletwood Mac, Truimvirat, as well as T-Rex and BOC i was just friggin 20 years old! Hell yea, i had Python Platform's black Satin bells and black velvet bells, and a suit made by a rock and roll clothing designer. couple years later i was doing stupid club tours So i kind of peaked at 20 What a punk ass hahahha
Awesome...we all wish we had done even that! You were playing on stages with the bands I was reading about in Metal Edge Magazine... BB
+1 Except for me it was Creem and Rock Scene magazines! Very cool, Coldsteal. That must have been a fun ride. Too short, but fun!
coldsteal, you are too fu**in' rock and roll. i wish i could have done half of the stuff that you have experienced as a musician! to be giggin around in the 70's with the likes of boc and fleetwood mac as well a t rex?!!!??? that is awsome! but then....wait...in the 80's you were there for the rise of the great west coast bands and were close friends with robbin crosby (r.i.p. brother), warren dimartini and some of the coolest cats of the time! you were there in the flesh for probably the 2 most exciting times for rock music! there will probably never be an era like those 2 again! much respect for the man who has more than earned the title of grade a *(^%$@ rockstar!
