I recently ordered & received a Bjorn LPC. Found these little cracks up by the nut. They go across and past the binding, and extend into the black painted section of the neck about 3/8". Is this worth worrying about? I'd be tempted to hang on to it if I knew for sure it is just cosmetic.

    Seems sketchy to me.

    I'd ask for another.

    Good luck with it!

I repair cracks like that. They will continue to propagate.

    Sure would
No store would take a trade on a guitar that comes in offered in that condition,
so the customer shouldn't have to accept it either
    especially if new.

The fact that the cracks are continuous across both binding and finish would be worrisome to me.

It's a beatiful instrument, worth it to have it immaculate. I would ask for another one.

Thanks guys. It's going back. Musician's Friend emailed me a paid return label.

    Nice.

We'll be waiting for your NGD thread.

You did the right thing. The plastic binding and poly finish on Epis can stand more flex than the wood without cracking. IMO, the wood has been compromised. Also, this is a very common part of the neck that cracks or breaks on Epis (and Gibsons).

And if you doubt it, watch Jeffsmusicgear on ebay. This is where Sweetwater sells their shipping damaged things.
