All right guys I want to see what the majority of you guys are using for an overdrive pedal. I've got a Boss SD-1, and I don't know if I necessarily like it all that much. I need to try out some more pedals... so, give me some suggestions! I will try to post most of the ones I heard of, and if I miss one just tell me in your post.

    [EDIT]

My bad guys, the tubescreamer is supposed to be the Ibanez TS-9.

Overdrive I use a Fulltone OCD v4. I love it. One of the best out there. And it's not a rediculous amount like the Centaur.

Judging by the poll none of the above is the concensus here. Personally, right now I am using a Barber Direct Drive and it's working for me.

I just heard the Plush FX Cream pedal by Fuchs. I really liked the way it sounded. I just bought one. I will let you know more when I get it. I will post some clips.

    Barber LTD!

I do award the OCD with second place for its versatility.

I've been through so many and so many more I will get through. I actually hope the search never ends, it the last search I have. Found what I consider to be the perfect guitar/amp/pickups for me. I'll trade out my choralflange for a choralflangevibe when it comes out. Right now, using a time bomb boost into either a luther drive or a helios, into a throbak OD or OCD, but I have a liquid sunshine on the way. I'm not really into the one pedal thing. I prefer to stage my ODs in 2-3 stages. I also have 4 settings on the amp with which to mingle those so I can vary from clean machine to rip-off-your-face-and-shove-it-down-your-throat OD and all spaces in between.

Been through, and sold: Tim, Barber BUEQ, crunchbox, BOR, Zendrive, klon, blackstone app, Jetter GS3, KOT, eternity, BB+, Plexi 800, and others I don't remember..

Still have:COT50, BBB, boostiest and the ones mentioned above.

Waiting on: Liquid sunshine on the way, would like to try menatone stuff, Fuchs stuff, who knows after that...

Been a Tubescreamer fan for years, normally use a TS-10 modded to TS-808 or TS-9 specs, got a few BUT....

The Boss BD-2 is an amazing bit of kit, especially with Keeley mods. I'm using mine more and more.

I have the BD-2, but I didn't include it in the poll because I consider it distortion. I know the line between overdrive and distortion can get pretty thin though... :thumb:

Liam how would I mod my BD-2, and where can I find sound clips to here one that is modded? Can you give me a link or something please?

I guess I shouldn't have done a poll and just said, "What is your favorite overdrive pedals?" =P

OCD V4 here, although I am looking at picking up a TS808 reissue to give that a try (maybe even a Keeley modded one if I can justify the extra $80).

I'd reckon the BD-2 is less of a distortion than the TS. It does a MUCH better clean boost, and cleans up really nicely as the notes fade, especially with the Keeley mods.

Now then, the mods... Fortunately Robert Keeley is not super secretive with what he does to pedals, and a nice fellow called Erik Hansen has documented a lot of the changes. The pedals are easy to work on, and you will be mightily impressed with the results. I just changed C100 to a suitably large value to fatten the sound up all the time, think it was 0.068 uF total (rather than 0.033 + 0.068). Here's Erik's website - a good resource for this sort of thing:
