Those sound fantastic. The "Area" name is confusing because it implies its a dimarzio product. And that term is usually for single coil style with noise cancelling.
Really difficult to get a real idea of their sound from these low volume, web optimised clips. To me they don't sound dynamic enough compared to the vintage PAF's I've got, or my sets of OTP replicas - but this said it could be the gain on the amp, the player, the camera or the guitar. Not doing it for me I'm sorry to say... at least judging by this clip.
Also, I couldn't help but be distracted by the players left hand thumb positioning. If I had a thumb hanging over the binding like that I'd be using it to frets me some notes!
I am sorry, could someone please identify the pickups?
They sound nice to me.
The recording is very compressed as you can hear the hiss ramp up in the quiet spots. I think the dynamics are being squished a lot here. This is all too frequent and it makes it difficult to really judge pickups by sound clips on the web.
those pickups sounds good!
Area59 PAF made for Crazy Parts. You can find them here: Crazy Parts
A friend on another forum has tried hundreds of paf replicas...
He gave me a set of this last year...he told me to keep the set because they are awesome!
I recently install one of those set on my R0. Excellent boutique PAF with good vintage vibe.
Vintage Replica PAF Pickup "HystericPAF" Double Brunette (BN-75) - HystericBar
Looks really good also...forgot to tell, awesome aging!
I put a double white set in my R8 and they sound great. The Neck is 7.4k and the bridge is 8.0k. The set came with roughcast A2's and I swapped the bridge for a roughcast A3. Very clear and woody sounding pickups. The midrange has a lot of clarity. I can play low notes on the neck pickup with zero mud. They have that growly harmonic added thing in the note that is hard to explain.
Visually they are really close to a Wizz set that I had. Nice aging, butyrate bobbins and two strand braided shielding. Very nice pickups. I'll post a picture later.
So are Hysteric Paf (made in japan) and Area59 the same pickups?
Can they be Mojo Pickups?
At least the Mojopickups 'Bernie MarsdenBeastbuckers' look like the Crazyparts Beastbuckers.
Probably.. I don't know..
