    F'n stop.

Leave him alone. He spent years cultivating his own sound and you should too. Quit robbing food out of your kid's mouths by spending thousands on guitars, pickups, amps, bone nuts, bridges and other assorted parts trying to chase his sound down. Hell, he can't even remember what the hell he used most times.

Besides, once you get all of that stuff you think you need, you'll probably still suck anyway. You don't have his fingers, his inner soul or his timing, which are things that made his sound what it was more so than his gear.

But, let's say you actually do it. Let's say you finally nail down the right gear, the right timing, the right touch, the right notes and the right attitude and it all comes together. You finally capture the toneally correct sound everyone else has failed to thus far. After it all comes together, guess what you'll be known as- yes, just another Zeppelin clone.

If you really want to copy someone, develop your own sound and then copy that. You might just stand out from all of the wannabes.

    Good morning.

I’m a yuge fan of JP. YUGE. But his tone sucked. I’ll take my LP + Friedman tone over Page’s god-awful earache tone all day every day.

I doubt Jimmy got his sound from a solid state amp with very low volume. So, in that regard, we are very different.

These days I just plug my guitar into a "nice" Marshall and take what I get. I have no complaints. :)

Which JP tone, as there are several? LZ I, Houses of the Holy, Presence? All the little in between tones?
Most of Page’s sound was in his chord voicings and song construction.

    Easy now..

You're going to upset the marketing departments that want to sell all of us signature guitars, amps, pedals, strings.... at inflated prices so we can sound like

    OURS LF

    Want to buy a vowel?

When I try to cop a tone I usually go for JOE tone, which is basically guitar on the verge of break-up. Page tone only works if you have Bonzo behind you. After 35 years I get effortless FEZZ tone- I used to play 74 LP Custom through tubes, now I play a Strat through SS amps-------FEZZ remains the same. Tone is in the soul.

:laugh2: Hell no, I think finding Waldo would be a better use of my time.

My Tonez was borrowed from the sack of Thor, it's mighty, it's strong, and has 1 eye

I strap my Les Paul on, plug one end of a cable into the jack and the other end into my jeans pocket. My tone is thin. What am I doing wrong?
