Anyone here who is disabled like being deaf, hard of hearing, etc?

I am deaf myself. I can speak very well and wore hearing aids all of my life~

Many people tell me that they can't tell if I'm deaf and that I can speak very well~

I can hear music however my left hearing has gone down, but hopefully I will be able to wear hearing aid on my right ear~ :fingersx:

Not me. I have been fairly lucky with my body that it seems to have lasted a fair while. It's only now that I have started getting little minor things like tinnitus and arthritis.

I do currently have a trapped radial nerve that is causing me great pain in my left shoulder. It doesn't stop me playing, but is very painful. Undergoing physio at the moment, in fact an appointment later today:eek2:

I feel for those who are born with or suffer major disabilities.

Hard to say about me, GG.
I'm walking that fine line between can and can't.
My engine's still pumpin' steam, but my chassis is showing the wear and tear of rollin' with the punches way too many miles.

I used to have a jam buddy that would bring a couple of his coworkers to "hear" us play on occasion. They were both totally deaf but enjoyed the music through the vibrations they felt.

    Life is good:wave:

I am a behavior specialist and work with the disabled, dual diagnosed, mental retardation, and aggressive/violent behaviors daily. I see people with many different challenges and it's amazing how some can overcome..

My wife tends to think I have a hearing problem at times.......:fingersx:
Fortunately, I have been blessed with very little wrong with me (Again my wife might argue that point) Aside from the usual aches and pains that go along with an over 50 year old body. Heck, I still love to take my quad to a motocross track and catch some air....so even that can't be too bad. So keeping an eye out for someone who isn't as fortunate as myself and giving a hand if it's needed is the least I could do.

I fell down some stairs last summer and was paralyzed for 3 months. I had no muscle control in my face, couldn't move my left arm, stand up or walk very well, and had no feeling in my right leg at all.

Thankfully I healed up, and am back in action... It was just really bad nerve damage, and they all grew back... but for a while there I was scared... All I kept thinking was 'is this going to be the rest of my life?'

How true GG..It will always amaze me what people can overcome. 15 years ago when I got ill I thought why me, then I saw people trapped in bodies that didn't work or they were in wheelchairs being fed and toileted and then I knew I didn't have it so bad after all. Everyone has something to offer no matter what their limitations are...

Although not truly dissabled so to speak I had a serious hand injury in 1982 my left hand, I tore my left thumb off so to speak,it was still on but nuthing was connected. had three surgeries over that year. I couldnt play guitar for over 10 yrs I tried but it hurt like hell. But I stayed with it and gradullay am able to play again, although not as good as I once was I can play, and I dont take anything for granted anymore. I was told have 60% disability in my left hand, but I ignore that and im just happy to play again.

    Hi again,
Just wanted to let you know how well hippotherapy works. My sister-in-law has stables in upstate NY and works with children that have assorted problems, autism being one that this type of therapy really seems to help. Yo can actually see the bond between the child and the horse. It's truly amazing :thumb: It's hard but VERY rewarding work. God bless her work............:applause:

I've read and seen very positive reports and case studies on this type of therapy and the bond is amazing. It really brings alot of these children out of their shells.

Its a huge lifestyle change eh? I had to have someone come over to feed me, and help me bathe and go to the bathroom and everything.

I'll tell ya, shyness goes RIGHT out the window... but so does a lot of other things... like being social, working, or even personal relationships. My girl was so supportive, and I'll never forget that. She's really 1 in a million. :)
