i can't see how you're risking anything apart from the attenuator. i run my 50w amp at about half stretch on the power tubes with an output leash, and it's awesome. there really isn't any sound like power tubes stretching out.

if my amp blew from being run at half stretch it'd be a sad thing...

What would I tell the guy if I wanted the same setup as you?

i presume the amp you want to use it on has an 8 ohm speaker output, right? get one of those, and ask him if he could make you a wire to go from the tamer to the speaker. he hooked me up, so you never know, he may hook you up too :thumb:

in that case, you are using a 1/4" speaker cable to go from amp to cab, right?

In my super six when the channel volume is on 10 all the tubes are burning at max.
Even when the master is on 2.

Snaredrum, thanks for this post. For $55, I am taking a swing at an Output Tamer as a backup for my Ultimate Attenuator. Be interesting to see the tonal comparison between the $55 unit and the more expensive solution. Thanks again...

good for you, man. i'd love to see what your opinion is of the cheap versus the expensive. i took a punt on the cheaper option to go with my cheap guitars and cheap amp, and am very happy.

    thanks for the thanks!

Re: "burning"... The heater current does not change, it's always 6.3 VAC
Check a schematic for your Super Six (same as Master Volume Twin Reverb and Master Volume Dual Showman) and you'll find the master volume is before the inverter tube (V6). Fact.
