I've been noticing a lot of postings on Craigslist asking for people to donate their equipment to a church group. Bollocks! This aggravates me to no end.

I work in a church...and exist to offer to the community, not to suck it dry for my own personal gain. Go do a car wash, mow lawns, etc. and buy yourself a Les Paul.

I agre with JM Vasek mow lawns, wash cars, sell something, try to do something but sit on your ass. But I've seen people like this they'll do nothing to make it happen but put on the poor mouth, and some dumb ass will donate it thinking its going to a good cause, but a week later its in the pawn shop

If the church had a bikini car wash, it is likely they could raise enough revenue to buy a Les Paul...or two...

    Deal!

You take the holy water.... I'll take the babe.

    And to the craiglist post:

How can anybody be dumb enough to even think that a LP owner is just going to give away one of their babies?

I could maybe donate my LP to an auction supporting cancer treatment for children or something. **Sentence Deleted** --Mod

The more I read that ad, the more it sounds like a familiar type of person... a crackhead who abuses the charity of a church to no end. I'm guessing he had some sob story for the minister and they agreed to let him play guitar in the band or some such nonsense.

The old saying "beggers can't be choosers" this guys trying to be both. He's not asking someone to donate a humble used guitar like one of the starters thats no longer needed by its first owner. No he wants a Les Paul does he have a preference chrome or gold hardware. Cheapies don't bring much at the pawn shop,he's a con artist looking for a sucker

People donate guitars to veterans, there's a group who collects them I think. Nothing wrong with that.

What I don't like is using the kid to ask for a "les paul" specifically, not a good or decent guitar, but a "les paul". Strange.

    Yeah what's up with that?

Imagine a street begger calling you a cheap ass for giving him 5 dollars instead of 10 dollars.

"Well, if that is your custom, sir. I'll take my 5 bucks back!"

I was thinking the same thing. My first guitar (which I just bought last year) was a 2006 MIM Fender Strat HSS. I only paid $255 for it and it is a great guitar for the money. (I've since then picked up and Epiphone Joe Perry Boneyard.)

I can't figure out why a church simply wouldn't make the purchase themselves. A decent guitar can be had for much, much less than a LP and will get the job done.

    It says>>
When you pray, don't go out on a street corner and do it in front of everyone....go to your room, close the door and make peace with God by yourself.
God don't care if you got a LP? To make music for the worshiper's a Squire will do just fine!!!
Don't ask for things that YOU want in the name of GOD! Ask God to buing out the talent inside of you to please him and make the people happy!!!
    LOVE and Peace!
