    Hi all!

Glad to join the MLP Community. I’m the proud owner of a LP Standard 50’ style neck made in 2006, bought in 2009 in a guitarshop in Caen (Calvados, the kingdom of “stinking cheeses”). Although I’ve been practicing for almost 10 years from now on, I must confess I’m a rather lousy player.

I like reading guitar build threads (the main reason I came across this site) as I wish, someday, being able to build myself one or few guitars.

P.S.: forgive my somewhat broken english.

    Hi chupe442.

Thanks for your message. I know there are plenty of great builders around here and lots of useful infos. Great place to share our passion for stringed instruments.

    You picked the right place!

Even one of our Mods is a master builder himself, and says he joined originally because of the builder community.

Now he polices the place. You'll meet him as he likes to drop in on discussions and comment from time to time. His name's LtDave32.

That scared me at first because I thought I was doin' something wrong and he was watchin' me. I didn't know then that the mods were participants on this forum as well. Now I get it and it's totally cool! :thumb:

Great people all around and lots of good info.

As a rite of passage all newcomers are required to post :photos:
    of their gear! :D

    Enjoy your stay!

    Hi DarrellV.

Thanks for the infos. Hopefuly I will try to post pics of my gear soon. I’m just waiting for a better weather (cloudy and rainy the last few days ; the northern west coast of France suffers the same s**t weather as Great Britain). I would like to take advantage of a sunny bright light to showcase the honeyburst finish of my LP.:D

I only own a multi-effects pedalboard (a Vox Tonelab LE to say). I once had an amplifier but I had to sell it (my neighbour was very pleased though :laugh2:).

Guess I’m gonna spend quiet some time around here. Thanks for the kind words.

    Ok.

As I promised, here are few pics of my gear. I’ll try to post better pictures with better lighting (stormy weather since two days here).

P.S.: the reversed trussrod cavity cover is intentional.

Thank you Mockbel. The honeyburst really caught my eyes when I saw the guitar in the store.

I don’t use the Bigbsy very much. The Les Paul logo looks a bit dull. The headstock broke before the guitar reached the store.:Ohno: They had it repeared and allowed me a subsequent discount (around 300$). There is a thick coat of black paint at the back of the headstock making the serial number hardly legible but the guitar plays fine. There is only a strange buzz when I play ghost notes on the G string (on the entire length of the string). It’s not the string that is actually buzzing it seems to be inside the neck. I would say that’s got something to do with the trussrod.

I’ve got one question for you guys who are used to the customs of this site. I subscrided to a thread started by alk-3 ("1958/63 Explorer build") where he shows some korina lumber that will be used for the build. As he managed to get a fair amount of wood he said he would be ok to sell some as blanks. I would like to start my first guitar build with the same model and then told him I was definetly interessed in buying some of his korina. I never got a reply. Have I done something wrong? (perhaps this is not the right place to talk about commercial matters…). I must add that I just figured out that alk-3 was Tom at BARTLETT’S Guitars, home of the infamous “BARTLETT Plans”. Perhaps I should ask through their website?

Thank you all for the kind words.
