This deluxe has obviously been through the ringer.
What value do you guy think it has in terms of cash.

Just say no. Unless you can get it for the price of the pickups.

My reason for "saying no" is purely aestetic.
With that oversized route on the front (and all the screwholes) it will never look nice and that would ruin the guitar for me, no matter its playability.

I used to have a 78's Deluxe (that i got very cheap) where some fool had routed the bridge route to the size of a standard humbucker ring - meaning that the ring was inside the route! Sounded and played great - but i just couldn't get over that terrible looking hole on the top of the guitar.
    Yeah, i'm shallow like that...

If you con't care what your guitars look like at all, then this might be a cheap "player", i just know that i am to hung up on aestetics to ever be able to have a guitar looking like this.

Generally I'm against capital punishment, but in this case...
Anyway, it's a project. And with that neck cracked, it still may play pretty well, but how would you know with the electronic butchery that went on with this guitar.
$2000 is insane. It might be worth that after you put 300 hours and $1000 worth of quality parts on it.
As it sits, it's worth $350 to someone who HAS to have that year's model, and who can provide the care and attention it needs. Realize that the neck may be a goner...

    2000? Never going to happen.

If you're not in a rush better look for an original one. Or one that has been properly routed.

+1 It's not a rare year, and such a project that unless it was real cheap (< $500), not worth the trouble, IMHO. About the only thing this year has going for it is that they still had mahogany necks......

Also looks like the serial number has been intentionally defaced. That alone would make it worth a big fat ZERO in my book! I'd never touch a defaced serial with a ten foot pole!

Yeah I do have interest in this guitar even though I'd need to plug the pickup routed and at least finish the top over. My concern is the stability of the neck repair. I'm going to offer him a fair price realistic market price. I'm wondering what the neck pickup is ..
