what are you guys running as far as harness upgrades go? I like the sound of the stock pick ups in my elitist but comparing how the volume and tone controls effects my sound to my strat it feels like the stock epi pots don't do much between 2-7...

Just for the record I blame this little tweed box entirely for the issue.

I don't believe you have an elitist, but probably a domestic market Epiphone made in the same factory.

Thats correct. I owned an elitist (tombstone headstock) previously, my current Epiphone has tge traditional Gibby open book headstock, but with Epiphone on it.
See avatar (sorry for the confusion).

 thanks man! just snagged that little amp off craigslist over the holidays and it is a tone monster disguised as a lunch box. The sounds that come out of that little 8" speaker even on the attenuated 1.25 watt setting are un-freaking-real. Gotta post a NAD when i have some time to take another pic or two.

Down to one. Sent 2 back home and put the Elitist back to 'looking' stock. JB/Custom hybrid bridge & A5 496r neck.

    Saw one of these today..
Damn now we have GAS for it..
Wasn't even there looking at LPs but instead G&Ls & Fenders
Never seen a Epiphone with the open book headstock & two screw truss rod cover
Was marked "Made In Japan" on the rear of the headstock, appeared like it was naturally reliced by playing & just had that feel, appeared to have a bone nut too..

Sounds like an Orphan in need of a good home!

You should "do the right thing", and go get it. :D

She's a beauty. Don't usually see them in vintage sunburst. What colour is the back?

Anyone know whet type of wood is used for the back/ body ?
I read that's mahogany, but its got large streaks running in it length-wise.
My Japanese market lp is pretty light, about 8lbs 5oz

Mahogany it is, and the streaks are just grain lines in the wood. If you look at the butt end of the guitar, you'll see how all those streaks = separations in the grain.
I believe the specs for the Elitist call out African Mahogany, which is known for having larger/darker streaks in it. Not sure about the other JDM Epi's, but I'm pretty sure the body of my LQJ is also.

First pic is an Elitist Custom (full stripes!), and the second is another Japanese LP copy. It too is African, but much mellower in the stripe dept. The third is an Edwards LP copy, and no stripes at all!

Admittedly I do like the backs on the Edwards. What's the spec on that AK do you know?

It is an Edwards E-LP92 SD (I think), which is a P-90 Gold Top from 2009. Not sure where the wood is from, but those 1-piece backs with "arches" in the grain sure are cool.

Beautiful, great playing guitar, but it (and many others) need to find new homes this year. :(

Interesting,,my elitist I previously owned was very striped on the back as well.
Not too fond of it really, but this guitar is dynamite, so not a deal breaker.
Ive never owned a Les Paul that sounded so good ,esp in the middle position.
Add the 3d flame top and light weight, pretty hard to not love it.
