In the mid 90's a buddy of mine had me check out Uncle Lou's stash and ended up buying the '59er I recommended for him. He paid $mid20Ks which seemed about right at the time. No haggling whatsoever, price seemed fair, cash changed hands, end of story. I assume he's serious about what he wants for the guitar (whatever that pricerange may be). I don't think that space-cadet's ownership ads a nickel to its value, it's just an extreme example of a flamey Burst, find another one like it. But there's not much of a celebrity factor here IMO since it's not really tied to the history of those goofballs.

I thought that "uberbursts" were always sold in secret, far away from public scrutiny, for massive amounts of money. How is this happening?

Ace Frehley had that and sold it for what good reason?? Another house? Another car? More drugs? I don't care WHO y'are, if you own that guitar, you NEVER sell it!

My conspicions tell me that the person who was selling it this time put up an overpriced figure because they really don't want to sell it at all, but if someone was truly willing to pay over $1M they might actually be willing to part with it. Anything less and they'd just keep it until retirement or something.

Think he was offered all the money back around 2005,2006 or so , but tuned down the offer. Should have taken the money and ran back then. Now , who knows? Don't think its worth over 500K ,imo, ommv. :slash:

Ace actually sold it in 1985 to go gambling. And it’s been through the hands of several owners over the years, both before and after Ace.
