What was the material for the original '59 ABR-1 threaded bridge posts, was it brass or steel? My '94 LP Classic posts are probably brass, judging by a magnet. The ones sent along with a Tonepros bridge are steel. Thumbwheels in both cases seem to be nickel/chrome-coated brass. Anyone tried changing posts and noticed any difference in tone?

Original ones were brass, though Gibson has used steel ones over the years. Some of the earlier Historics were steel. I experimented with the different types, steel gives a brighter tone, brass is a little more midrangey. It's a very small difference, but a discerning ear can tell.

Hey thanks for that - really appreciated. I'll stick to the brass originals as my LP is quite bright already.
