Actually finished this one a couple weeks ago, but I wanted to share. Maybe this will inspire someone

My MM Flying V is decidedly a metal axe, with the EMG Alexi Laiho signature pup and what not.
In order to look a bit more "metal", I decided to fit a pickguard similar to my Explorer, which I got from Ebay and painted.

You can't get a pickguard that fits a Melody Maker V anywhere, so I had to fabricate it myself.
I can't seem to find the pictures from the earliest stages, but here goes:

Pickguard cut out and holes drilled, first trial fitting. Still needed some minor file work after that, but it fits.

Pickguard painted matte black, and mounted to the guitar.
I first painted the whole thing matte black, several layers and the scraped the paint back off on the elevated parts of the pickguard.

Considering that I'm not a metal worker at all, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.
    Whaddya think ?
