guys I need help verifying a guitar with a serial number 120102 (1967 on the guitar decoder which is wrong) with a made in usa at the bottom.......no original electronics (pots)..so how do we know what is it? it could be from 1971 to 1975? is there any way to zoom in on the date? les paul logo silk screen is farther down from the Gibson logo...it's in a Cherry Sunburst finish. sent a link with some pictures...what neck is it? if it's a mahogany this can put this guitar at 1974 and downward .a rounded Gibson logo(not the squared) puts her 1973 and up. so we are talking 73 to 75...
the guy selling insists its a 1971....

late 74?....man the neck and area upp through the headstock really bother me.

looks like Hog on the neck but make him take a shot under the TRC.

ask for a shot of the routes and control cavity and we can really be sure.....

is he saying factory HB's and is he saying the tuners are original?

thanks gang. well its a routing job with (mini's before) and its a real bad routing job . non of the electronics are original to the guitar, tuners are not original.
    three things bother me.
    1. is it a mahogany neck?
    2. is it a 75 and a maple neck?
    3. with all said (hack job routing non original electronics, cheap pickups, tuners not original and a head stock repair) what would a fair price be?
I want it as a project guitar...its a light les paul 4.2 ..and sounds awesome.

I'd throw a couple hundred bucks at him and see what he says. There's a lot of work here ahead of you and a project is a project.

Makes more sense. We Americans always assume you're speaking in our terms.

    Bloody ferners.

If you can pick it up for a couple hundred - and I mean a couple - it's a project.

that's low balling him to the ground. he was willing to do 1800 $ LOL ..now I thought it was a 1971 which apparently it isn't...still wondering what a realistic price tag on it.

I think about it this way...

"How much is a piece of wood worth that was once a Les Paul?"

As you describe it, almost nothing is OE, hacked up routing, neck repair, etc... there's almost nothing there to bring the kind of value this person places upon it. Even the year model is unclear. It's a piece of wood that was once a Les Paul.
