    hi,
I want to buy this 59 Lp junior...
Would like to get some help please - what is this mark?
Is this glue leftover or something,
    or a stress crack?
    Thanks.

    Thanks
Shows no finnish check/spray under black light.
But I wonder what could it be?
it just a weird black line - but it could be an old crack that been repaired...
It's hard for me, with my little experience, to tell.
    Two more pics

I know practically nothing about how to check this kind of stuff, but if there's no finish damage, I don't think it's impossible that it was a crack/notch in the wood before finishing. In fact, the dark color is probably where the dye collected inside it during finishing.

Could be some filler residue, that they don't cleaned up very well. Redfiller gets black if it to thick or on the surface and not in the grain, when you lacquer the guitar.

Looks under the finish, and yes it does look filler on a vein. Seems nothing to me.

I'd be paranoid about a stress crack too but that doesn't look like anything to me. I wouldn't bat an eye at that as it's doesn't look like a stress crack and the rest of the neck joint is perfect. Go buy it! I wouldn't be worried about that one at all.

    Thanks everyone.
    I appreciate your replies.

It just that I have never seen a mark like this in any junior or other Les paul.

    Still not sure though...

Anyone else has thoughts about it!

Looks like a pore or something. Nothing to worry about. Please note I'm not an authority on the subject

Definitely not a crack. Judging from the pic, it looks like some dye became trapped in the corner of where the body was sanded, when the neck was being aligned (pre-finish).

My LP Classic looks just like that, but being a natural back, it's pore-filler instead.

Btw, after almost 30 years of playing, and dealing with vintage Gibsons, and various other guitars, I would consider myself somewhat of an "expert".:thumb:
