Hyas all. A buddy of mine has been holding onto this head since the `80s. Just wondering if it worth anything. Take a look at the pics and tell me your thoughts. He wants to sell it now, but I have no clue of the amps worth.

I can say that years ago I tried it out pre amping a ZOOM 9002 into it. And it sounded amazing into 2 slant cabs loaded with 2x12 Greenbacks. Without the pre amp tho, it was just ungodly loud. lol

Nice amp. Very loud. Crank it with an attenuator, or modify it so it's a JCM800. Nice amp either way, and it's vintage, so it's worth a fair bit if it's in reasonable condition. I can't put a number on that for you because I'm in Australia, and our version of "a fair bit" is rather different to yours in the U.S.

    cheers,
    Splat

Thx for the replies all. I am actually a Boogie fan, not really into Marshalls per se. Was just trying to get my buddy a sort of price starter asking point. A ballpark number he could ask for it. Thx again. Much appreciated. I think he`d part with it for a G note Canadian. lol

I had a '78 JMP Mark 2 super lead 100w. It was a great amp, I probably should have kept it. I actually sold it and bought a Mesa Heartbreaker 2X12, I liked the Mesa much better.

But that Marshall is a bona fide collector IMHO. I'd snatch it up.

I don't know about the 1,800. Some PTP metal panels go for under 2K

    +1

Check FleeceBay. There are a couple of '73s for less than $2K. Very LOUD amp. Don't bother looking at the ones being sold by the online stores - they're over priced by about $500 - $1K, which is why they still haven't sold.

I do not know what your definition of a PTP panel is...the original poster's pics do not show me PTP wiring...

I think you misunderstood. We are saying the $1,800 is high because for the same money you can buy a ptp Marshall.

The one being shown is NOT ptp and therefore the $1,800 is high.
