Mike, I bought that guitar about 16 years ago and played it for years untill one day I dropped it. I managed to catch it just before it hit the floor. I got to thinking about "what if" so I bought a new Fender. I've since sold that and bought a Suhr as my player strat. Since they've gone up in value so much I don't take it out anymore. Do you play yours?

...jakeddy...I play all of the guitars I currently own...including the '71 strat...to me there is no sense owning them if all one does is admire them...

My wife had a Telecaster custom built for my 40th birthday. as I was having a birthday bash I decided to show off the guitar by playing with my band at my party. 10 minutes before the gig I dropped it off the strap straight on to it's headstock. Amazingly it was fine and din't need anything done to it. Probably wouldn't have got away with it on a Gibson............:hippie:

...straplocks actually are great...the only drawback to them is sometimes they don't lock into place properly...I stopped using them when I picked up a few vintage straps...I find the donut type ring works quite well...

...it's hard to describe but it basically a donut that fits over the strap and the strap pin and has a slide thingy built into it with a tab...most guitar shops sell them and they are quite cheap...might be worth checking out...will take a pic and post it later...

Damn straight vintage collecting, all well and good , but these things were built to make music, not become another kinda investment bond.
have trimmed my collection down from 13 guitars now to six, not to say I may not get more , but they will all be players , Nice lookin strats
CBS Strats, well, Blackmore, Trower, Hendrix? Need I say more?

Nice one, I prefer the maple myself, although I started out with a rosewood strat before moving to Blackie, but I do love the sunburst finish
