8.8lbs is pretty light for a Custom.

I'd put a WTB Ad in the classifieds for a Chambered Custom then if you need under 8lbs.

Hard to come by but doable.

Send a PM to Dan at MojoAxe. He has one, never know your luck.

    Good luck.

    :cheers2:

Thank you for your nice advice but I actually own both Fenders and Gibsons guitars and I am quite glad I do... not like all those "only one brand dudes".

I often see Custom going for less than the exact 4.7kg of that one. So I am going to wait a little more for my light white Custom. ;)

LOL. Sounds like you need a conversion table for lbs. and kg's OP.

In France, we talk in kilogrammes... So sorry, I mistranslated the weight. :p
Now you know why I am still searching my Custom! 10.34 lbs was way too much!

68RIs are usually in the 11 lb range. Mine is 9.5 lbs and the dealer said it was the lightest he had ever received.

Maybe look for a 57 Custom. Those don't have maple tops and can can be lighter but 99% of them are black.

Very true, everyone I've owned out of 4 total has been around 10.5 lbs. The secret was using the Gibson Fat Boy guitar strap. All that super thick foam on it was made special for these heavy weight lesters. Expensive ass strap but worth every penny

I've seen a few of these Tiger '68RIs over the years. I think it looks pretty cool. Not traditional, but that appeals to some! One of the main differences between these "small batch" '68RIs and the "normal" '68RIs is that the binding is tinted.

I'm not quite sure when the Gibson Custom Shop started these models, but the earliest I recall seeing was 2005, and they still continue to this day.

In addition to the Tiger Flame '68RI, we have (if Photobucket doesn't work, try clicking the links?)...

These '68RIs above are a different run than the normal "F" '68RIs. The necks are slightly bigger than the R8/R9s, but they are much smaller than the earlier '68RIs, which were baseball bats. Here's my "F" '68RI...
