Here's the live test vehicle for Will's vintage-wire Pups. It's an early 80's Burny Black Beauty. All-mahogany body and neck for that yummy rich tone, but with a rosewood fretboard. This one's headstock has been snapped off and repaired, so it has something to prove. :) Mods include Jap aftermarket tuners, WB 67-07's, Chrome-dome knobs, and some silver pinstriped flames. I can't decide whether the flames are done yet or not... but past experience tells me to leave it alone. I'm waiting on some chrome pickup surrounds. When they come in, I'll probably add the chrome pickguard shown in the last photo. Enjoy:

No luck at Stew-Mac. I just want a plain chrome TRC... can't seem to find one anywhere...

BTW, here's another possible eventual 67-07 recipient... I'm takng them both out live this weekend and A/Bing them. This is my beat-to-hell '71 Gibson Les Paul Custom (affectionately dubbed Rat Fink). It still has its original T-Tops. I just ressurrected it - the Kahler was not functioning correctly, but it is now, so it will be fun to compare tones.

    Damn that rocks!!!

there's a Norlin black custom with a sanded down neck and a headstock repair hanging in a local shop for 1100 that has me tempted.

Wish I had the dough. LOL

Burny made some of the best Customs from the pre 85 era.

Yeah they did, no doubt about it. I love these things. I finished the flames instead of adding the pickguard -- played it last weekend but it crapped out on me (my fault -- bad solder joint) ... i'll try it again this weekend. Can't wait to really hear the WB's.
