I am blissfully ignorant but to me at the right price could be a cool project but probably beyond my skill level to tackle rebuilding the headstock wing ! wonder what lister would consider a low ball offer?

happened to come across this one as well on same cl , nice looking but what burst would they be prototyping from 1955?

Could be worth that to someone. I hope she understands that, for that kind of money, the guitar would have to be fully inspected, pickups removed, electrics examined and tested, etc to REALLY establish the year, and if any modifications have been made.
Sometimes people are funny about that sort of thing...

way too high for me, as cool a project as it could be. I was thinking $1000, maybe I was too low. That's the value for me at least. But then again, I didn't even call

Yeah, $4K seems way high to me as well. I was thinking around $2K (plus or minus) as I do think it is salvageable for the right person.

Not to hijack the thread, but here's another example... It's a '58 on the bay right now in worse shape. Bidding is up to 2k with just over a day left.

How anyone can pay so much for these projects is beyond me. :dunno:Especially when they have a poorly repaired neck/headstock break, a refret, multiple dots replaced and plenty of other issues.

A grand would be a fair offer, sight unseen

$2k for a basket case seems like a lot. I guess if you figure it will bring a lot more if you can do all the repairs yourself, then it makes sense.

    Plus shipping... lol
Apparently the market is still pretty strong when a basket case with issues goes for almost 4k

Market is strong ... or market is insane. It's certainly not what I would value it at
