Only thing I would say about the cars, is their music defined a small era of pop music. They were the iconic, post punk, video age band, and did merge guitar rock with synth pop. Not sure that's enough to make it in, if using my standards. 6 Albums is all. Dire Straights only has/had 6 as well. But, I would give them the nod over the Cars.

The RRHF is a big wank run by wankers. I don't think the inductees even take it seriously.

Best RRHOF moment, IMO - Steely Dan quizzing the audience ("Who was the original drummer in the Mothers Of Invention?")

The Moody Blues have been overlooked far too long. Correct this ignorance and finally get them in there.

Let’s face it, the RRHOF is never going to be what any of us want. It is so subjective, and the powers that be seem to have a different idea of what Rock N’ Roll is than I do. Of course, even if they did, it would be debatable as to who the best are. I just know for sure that my favorite Rock N’ Roll band, Status Quo will never ever get in and they rock as much as most of those artists in there already. If you’ve never heard of them, check You Tube, there are plenty of examples. Oh, and don’t get me started on why The Moody Blues aren’t already in there............

    My 6:

    • Bon Jovi
    • Dire Straits
    • Judas Priest
    • Moody Blues
    • Rage Against the Machine
    • Sister Rosetta Tharpe

Was a tough cut down on The Cars, Radiohead and J Geils - basically #1 is the fans pick...hard to argue with the popularity - the 3 who missed the cut belong there - it will just take time.

Next 5 are based on a combination of content and influence - 4 are "household" names to anyone familiar with their genre - well, all 5 really are but who is really familiar with Sister's genre these days.

The RnR HOF will never just be rock - if it was, so room needs to be made to honor those who influenced music as a whole. The last 2 get the nod on that - RATM was making social commentary and bringing it to the forefront of music when no one else could get their message heard...they did not create it, they were not the only ones putting it out there - but they did it in a way that sold records and there is something to be said for that. The also fed into a crossover that is now mainstream.

Sister belongs in as an influence - without her, the "Sun Records Sound" probably would not have been the same, and may not have happened at all - she showed gospel could sell to the mainstream, opening the doors for so many.
