Had to Youtube her:
Not NEARLY enough Punk Bands in the HOF. They consider the following from that genre
But, I only consider 2 of those punk bands, with the Stooges a progenitor.
I'm always amazed to see the bands that are NOT in the R&R Hall of Fame.
Chuck Berry is not in?
Chuck Berry 1986
The Beatles 1988
Jimi Hendrix 1992
Seen in other posts as "not in":
Deep Purple 2016
What say you, Rock&Roll girl?
to be fair, many lamenting Deep Purple not in was before they were in (just last year).
I still want to see the following in
and maybe Bad Religion, NY Dolls and Minor Threat.
Were New York Dolls anything more than imitators?
The reason they don't let everyone in all at once is so they can continue to exist. Also, people complaining about those not in keeps them in the news. They also expanded outside of rock because that well is running dry.
LOLOLOL ,, I was being sarcastic my friend ... The Beatles not in the HOF ? Of course they are
I see them as the progenitors of Glam rock.
LOL. The HOF is a complete joke- worse than the Grammys. They should just run a museum and be done with it. The HOF is just another 'list'.
The HOF and Grammys are just self-congratulatory awards in an industry that already bestows fame upon the famous. So I really don't care.
Why are we even discussing this?
The R&RHOF has as much credibility as Harvey Weinstein! It's just a money making venture for the owner and has ZERO to do with the spirit of musical history and rock integrity. I really dislike it as you can tell.
We've written thousands of pages regarding the type of glue holding a guitar together and whether pickguards are best left in the case. Irrelevant topics are what we live for.
The RRHOF is only good for one thing, causing the occasional dust up regarding its membership and deserving nonmembers. The chances of me ever setting foot in the facility are slim to none.
The impact you had on music/your genre is what’s most important when it comes to getting into the R&R HOF, not talent necessarily. I’m most likely in the minority here and think it’s fine to include musicians from other genres, as long as they were good and influential.
I get it, it’s called the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but having a hall of fame for every genre would be a bit silly. Also, “Rock and Roll” is a pretty broad term, and if we really tried to include “rock” bands only, you’d end up giving yourself a headache trying to figure out what band is JUST rock music with no other elements to their music. I don’t think honoring music should be exclusive. There are too many great bands/musicians that aren’t just a guitar, bass, drums, etc. I think 80% of the current HOF is pretty legit, but that’s just my opinion.
Who will it be?
LL Cool J
I mean, c'mon, they inducted Donna Freakin' Summers, the anti-rock trollop.
Who should it be? Well, ignoring the many far more worthy possibilities and sticking with the list:
3; the Ramones were the original punk band, the band the term "punk rock" was coined in reference to. But the original fully-fledged punk band was the New York Dolls (their manager, Malcolm McLaren, then went home to England and created the Sex Pistols).
Talking Heads were the epitome of the New Wave, not punk. Blondie was a (very good) power-pop band that came up at CBGB. Patti Smith was.. well, sui generis, sort of a punkish art rocker. Velvet Underground didn't have anything to do with punk at all (I love Lou Reed, but he wasn't a punk).
The current R&R HOF isn’t even that bad, especially compared to the Grammies. Now that’s a total joke and I wish it would go away.
Seriously, after Justin Timberlake inducted Madonna does any of this really matter anymore?
For me, the initial inductees (way back when) +:
...then shut the damn door!
Seriously, Madonna!?! What the hell, put that LL Cool J guy in now, too.
