Out of that list, all of the following should, frankly, have been in long ago:

    • Bon Jovi
    • The Cars
    • Depeche Mode
    • Dire Straits
    • J. Geils Band
    • Judas Priest
    • MC5
    • Moody Blues
    • Radiohead
    • Rage Against the Machine
    • Link Wray
But noooo, they have to make room for Madonna instead.

Too bad MC5 was never captured on tape. I tried REAL hard to enjoy their albums, leave me flat. I wish I saw them with a head-full of Acid and a cops with billy-clubs at bay. I need to track down a bootleg album.

    I'd vote for:
    Moody Blues
    Zombies.
    Judas Priest
    The Cars
    Bon Jovi

And let the rest fall where they may. I liked Link Wray's "Rumble" back in 57, but can't think of a thing he did since. As a member of the Moody Blues fan club (so we get preference on their music cruises) I am aware that the R&R HOF catches a lot of flack from them for not nominating them before. Apparently, the HOF has some rules about how many years recordings have been sold, and whether the music is really R&R. The HOF has used these rules to keep the Moodies out, on the grounds that (they say) they aren't R&R. They are (for anybody who has attended their concerts) , but I just don't see how some of the nominees are.

Now Link Wray's may be entitled to break the HOF rules as to the time span of producing recordings that anybody heard. He had but one hit recording in the late 50s, but that recording influenced a lot of beginning guitar players back then. Rumble was easy to learn for us then. After we learned that, we went on to learn Johnny B. Goode. And the rest is history.

About half of those aren't even rock 'n roll acts, in my book.

J Geils could play a mean guitar. Forget that pop crap they cashed in on, before and after which he was a mean blues guitarist. I had the good fortune of seeing the J Geils Band a bunch of times in the '80s, before "Centerfold." and I saw him at a small, local venue a few years ago. He came out and jammed the blues.

Ya never know what she was really doing out there in left field! (probably Peter Gabriel) OK...... Close enough! LOL

Don't Give Up really is a beautiful song though!
