Now for a thread, hopefully less stressful than those others here in The Backstage (Controversial yes, but this is like Dave giving us CAKE in comparison.) LOL

I think six of the 18 will be chosen.........
    • Bon Jovi
    • Kate Bush
    • The Cars
    • Depeche Mode
    • Dire Straits
    • Eurythmics
    • J. Geils Band
    • Judas Priest
    • LL Cool J
    • MC5
    • The Meters
    • Moody Blues
    • Radiohead
    • Rage Against the Machine
    • Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
    • Nina Simone
    • Sister Rosetta Tharpe
    • Link Wray
    • The Zombies
For me it's a no brainer for five: The Cars, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Moody Blues and Radiohead. (I'm a weirdooooooo)

You all decide on the sixth! LOL Good luck1

    Link
    Sister
    Priest
    Straits
    Cars
    Depeche

I'm a J.Giels fan and think he's better but these are picks for most influential.

I'd take Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Nina Simone as influences; Link Wray, the Zombies, the MC5, the Meters, the J. Geils Band, and Dire Straits otherwise.

We know who this guy would vote for  I get such a kick watching Jimmy Page act like an 8th grader playing air guitar to his hero.

I can narrow it down to six easily. The rest are a no for me.
    • The Cars
    • Dire Straits
    • J. Geils Band
    • Judas Priest
    • Moody Blues
    • The Zombies

    • Bon Jovi - Can't they're not already in. Top 3 hair band
    • The Cars - Iconic 80s "pop"
    • Depeche Mode - Not my style but core New Wave band. Should be in
    • Dire Straits - Too many hits not to include
    • Eurythmics - Same as Dire Straits
    • Judas Priest - Are you kidding me? How are they not in there?

In before the chorus of "The R&R HoF is a joke / Jan Wenner is an Ahole"

There are a few that are Definitely SHOULD be in : Sister Rosetta, Link Wray, MC5, and even probably Judas Priest.

But the majority of this list is very influential, and I'd certainly vote for Dire Straights, Eurythmics, J Geils, and RATM.

ETA: I'm a paying member, and visit at least once a year. It is a fun day every time.

    FINALLY JUDAS PRIEST!!!!!!!

No other band not currently in has had more lasting influence than those guys. The bands that sell-out stadiums world wide (Maiden, Metallica, GnR, etc) can all trace their roots back to Priest. The Sad Wings of Destiny album cannot be overstated how far ranging its influence is. The band that defines the metal genre, the band that really kicked the door down and paved the way for all the others to follow. If anybody deserves it, its Priest

It's a great list, and everybody is deserving of recognition.

I think Judas Priest and Depeche Mode should be shoo-ins, but who can predict what these people will do?

    The Meters!

    I love Kate Bush.

Glad it's not up to me. I hate popularity contests...

    It’s a crock of shit.
They’ll let RUSH in when their ratings or whatever need a boost.
