Still no nitro. Called R&F and the package got rejected on border because it lost it's declarations. They are sending a new one. Very pleasant to talk to.

I'd wait until I put the lacquer on! :) All sorts of horrible things can happen!

I put the first coat on (2 light coats, 15 min apart). It looks fine but there are some specks of dust in. I'll have a look at it tomorrow to see if I need to sand them out or whether they aren't actually visible.

Second coat on. I'm worried about peeling the masking tape off to be honest. Perhaps I should score it with a razor blade first. Or also spray some wood with masking tape and test.

Final coat is on and the tape went off without any issues, magic.

Cream back plates (missing correct screws), Faber ABR-1 bridge, selector switch washer. Missing: proper set-up, electronics (found out my iron is too weak to solder to pots, used to be fine).

THat explains why the plates a re a little thinner I suppose. I much prefer the look of cream plates but might need to insert washers underneath.

I broke off one of the stock Gibson pot lugs while trying to bend it to make an eye. I ordered proper CTS 500k pots..

That's the nicest faux binding job I think I've ever seen.

To sand the top, you just did it by hand, guiding it with your finger?

Thanks. In convex parts, I used a jig made of two tiny pieces of wood. In concave parts I that to make a line and then used finger as a guide as you say.

Very nice. I did my HB using hand sanding and can't recall spending as long as you......probably better for your process as you could get a shine with less added coats.
And yes, only epis and chinese fakes get cream plastics.

Thanks for the compliment, but I'd probably cut my arm off or something. I am also a little overqualified for their payroll :)
