I know I am not being financially responsible but I want one badly!!!
And another 50 in Tokyo.
OMG I HAVE TO HAVE ONE!!!!!!
Sh!t !!.....the wife said no......,
So nothing other than the 9 in the serial number even indicates this is a ‘59 reissue. It’s just a “Les Paul Standard” (as is their convention now).
Somewhat of a tangent, but... they didn’t even realize that having both ‘58 and ‘59 reissues, which are essentially the same guitar, allowed them to price discriminate and make more $. Add to the list of stupid moves.
I would pay that price with a small discount, if I had the cash. I don't think it is unreasonable considering the 2003s sell in that price range and even higher for a nice top. Yet, the 2003s do not have all of the "vintage correct" updates that have been made since 2003. Next thin you know they will do Murphy age, Murphy painted, with braz, TH.....would be spectacular. I would not be surprised to see more braz runs, as Mark alludes to above. For now, WW has a nice marketing tool since this is the first run since 2003. Makes me wonder if Gibson will bring back ebony! LOL
I heard that WW has a stock of braz rosewood & did some strats with Fender using his own stash. I wonder if that is what they did here with Gibson....?
I grabbed #5...
#1, #2, #4, #5 have sold it appears... Where is #3?
Reminds me of an old Iron Maiden song...
I'm surprised the internet has not exploded yet...
Yeah, where's 97003?
I'll wait for them to go on sale...
Imagine reissueing the Collector's Choice series with BRW boards...That will go some way towards clearing the interest on that $520m debt!
Imagine a TH pearly with braz.....
So a Pearly Gates with braz? Oh lawdy lawdy me o my...
Give me an Italian Job any day of the week.
Don’t know if you remember John but we spoke about this stuff Years ago.
From memory we said there will come a day when they get it 100% right & it will cost $15,000 - $20,000.
When you think of it they are trying to make a high value lifestyle collectible, like a gold plated, jewel encrusted iPhone.
OUT OF STOCK
Very cool to see Gibson doing this. I wonder how many they will make in total.
A couple guys mentioned how this will decrease older Braz values. Sorry, but this will hurt/kill the HM and replica markets if Gibson makes enough of them.
............Mike Slub probably bought them all.
Why not add another few to the extremely large collection. Makes sense to me.
Will have my cheque book ready...
If Henry understands how luxury lifestyle branding works, making "enough" Braz will kill the company's direction. Think Hermes and Birkin.
Good fore the Braz fans
