Interesting. A little passé now IMHO.

Wonder why / what / how that happened to come about?

I just read the blurb from WW. It’s one hell of a sales pitch. :laugh2:

Henry gave up on "save the forest" and decided to make an extra 4k per guitar for a $25 fret board (at Gibson's bulk buying i doubt each fret exceeds $25 if that...).

I see a big depreciation/price correction on '03s Braz models coming to an eBay auction near you. :applause:

I knew Gibson will be selling braz again (mentioned in one of my older post(s) iirc), however, didn't expect it to happen this soon. Any idea whether all 25 are going to WW? If they are, i'm pretty certain there will be another Braz run for dealer(s) from the far east...

    14 R8 $3K
    HM w/Braz $4k
    Total $7K

    Better deal.

I will say at least these are documented on the COA. I also see a little decrease in the 03's because of it.

Still prefer a HM....probably because I have one but not paying 10k for it. If it had that black glass look that braz is supposed to have I may be tempted...maybe.

That black glass look comes with play.

It's interesting but I think it's great to see Gibson back to using some Brazilian. The prices are to steep IMO but they aren't any more than many recent offerings.

The one linked in the OP is my favourite top of 2017 so far. Might be my all-time favourite.

Comparing to what the 03 Braz were going for during their peak. 10k is imho "reasonable"...

and if this run of 25 sells well without any unforeseen hindrance. I believe we will be seeing $15k-$25k CC, Artist, & etc... with braz in the very near future.

I find it interesting that so many people think that Brazilian rosewood should always be black. When's the last time you saw a 35-100K pre-war Martin with black Brazilian back & sides?? The dark, almost black color of many vintage guitar fingerboards has a lot to do with dirt, finger oil, club and bar mung .......................

I remember reading a number of ads for '03 brazilians where the owner said something like "this guitar has the very desirable BR fingerboard that Gibson will never use again".:lol::lol:

The darkening of any Rosewood has to do with play wear. It's amazing to look back at NGD pics and compare the board to a pic taken after a few years of play.

I Have yet to own a guitar for any amount of time where the board didn't get darker. Doesn't work well for collectors but if toy actually play them their boards darken nicely with age. My '04 CR6 has a Mad board that was medium brown when new. It's black now. Almost looks more like Ebony than Rosewood. ;)
