Hi. I'm thinking to replace my les paul studio pickups, as they are quite harsh.. but not really sure what model they are. If I need to sell them.. its a 1997 and they dont have stickers or model numbers on them, they probably are the 490r/490t, or they could be the 490r/498t, how would I tell?
    Cheers.

A multimeter will tell you. And the regular Les Pauls section of the forum is where this goes.

What is the 'regular les paul section' of which you speak? I've looked a few times and this is where I end up..

After reading some things on these pickups I'll try lowering the height, maybe adjusting the pole pieces, and changing the 300k volume pots for 500k audio ones.. then see what happens. (I know this is the wrong place for this post, but thought id conclude what I've found out since) thanks.

If you go to the general LP section and search the 498t, there are multiple threads on ways to get them dialed in. It's a polarizing pickup, either love it or hate it.
