I got this in a guitar trade a few weeks ago. I’ve since had it serviced with new power caps. It has a reversible mid-tone control mod in the back panel in the extension speaker input and Jensen RI replacement speakers but all other important components are original. The mid control mod appears to be professionally done and is a plus for a VR in my opinion.

I’ve owned three vintage VIbrolux Reverbs over the past few years, two SF and a BF VR’s and this one was the least costly and sounds almost as good as my BFVR.

It will be my backup amp with the band, behind my Marshall Astoria. It is pretty much the perfect size and wattage amp (35 watts).

Sounds good with all my OD pedals. This is and will be a players amp so it will probably get BF modded in the near future. Anyway, pretty happy with my Guitar/Amp trade.

    Congrats!

I've always wanted one of these, definitely a bucket list amp, love the idea of a Fender with 2x10"s!

It doesn't get much better than that.

Which speakers came with your amp? I recently bought a '73 vibrolux reverb with CTS alnico's. Great amp.

Congrats! I have a '66 myself, fantastic amp. My only complaint is that it actually does NOT sound good with all of my overdrive or distortion pedals, I guess because there's no mids control and it's rather "scooped" sounding. But if I pair the right pedals (or play without), it sounds amazing!

Got my VR cleaned up, serviced, swapped out the reverb pan, and replace the preamp tubes with JJ’s and a Mullard. Sounds really good now.

It has reissue Jensen’s inside. Sounds good now but I think that it would sound even better with some Weber’s or vintage Jensen’s. I do have four 1967 10” CTS’s boxed up that I might try.

NICE. Sometimes all these old Fender handwired amps need are new speakers. With so many options today, it doesn’t even have to cost much to upgrade speakers.

I bought a couple of Eminence GA-10 speakers which I had planned to replace the CTS speakers with, but I just can't pull the old Alnico's because they sound so sweet.

    Nice amp! I've got a '73 VR with a pair re-coned '67 Jensen C10Qs. Sounds heavenly!
