Alright... I have always liked SG guitars. There was just something completely raw about the sound to me.
My 1980 Greco SS-800 Custom has been getting me by for the last 6 months, but I have been wanting another.

So........ I just bought a 1965 Gibson SG Special and just need it to arrive. Will see if I can get a few teaser pictures in the meantime.
This will be my first vintage Gibson guitar and I guess I have high hopes here. Josh

Very nice to hear you have one coming - how is the LP going?

Hopefully tomorrow I can get some nice pictures from the seller. It was an unexpected buy for me and a few things have to go for this to happen.

Wulfman, I still have the LP. It needs to get played more and will get more use this year. I will update this thread as soon as info becomes available.

    Thanks guys... Stay tuned. Josh

Well here is a teaser pic until it arrives. I took a picture of a picture so it is blurry:(

However it should arrive later next week and I can get some proper pictures. Josh

Very nice. Is this a 1 11/16" nut or 1 9/16? Can't really tell from the pics.

Is the finish original? I never like to see those big white squares of glare in photos. It could be nothing but I would check closely.

Thanks and I agree... I will be inspecting it very tightly once it arrives. Which will hopefully be around early next week.

Until then I am just biting my nails raw in anticipation as it will be my first vintage Gibby. Josh

Yesterday this guitar was flagged as stolen. The guitar store from which it was purchased sent me an email stating it was stolen from a gentleman while he was away on vacation.

The guitar store claims that they called the sheriffs department before purchasing the guitar and even had it in store for a couple months before listing it for sale.
Now there is an investigation and something just seems off here.

The guitar was listed on the employees account with Ebay and not with the store. The store claims to have sent the guitar to me, but there is no information for tracking that the guitar has been shipped.

What a weekend.... I don't know where to begin with what to do here. I called and left a message with the Sheriffs office and now am just waiting. Josh

    Ouch is right.....

At the moment I have a tracking number that says the guitar hasn't even been accepted for shipping and a seller saying he shipped it.

The post office can't find it and I am just wondering what the hell is going on. Such odd and disappointing news in the last 48 hours. Arrgh.. Josh

Really I am more worried about losing the guitar than the money. However, this all just seems like a daze right now.

We will see what comes of all this next week. Josh

Hmmm. Something not right here. Store says they've been notified it was stolen. Meanwhile, the store 'claims' it was shipped and even has a shipping number. The shipping number doesn't mean a thing because anyone can generate that at any time and NOT ship or having the shipping company pick it up. Seems mighty odd.

You're okay because you've got PayPal on your side so you won't be out anything.

    Strange, very strange.

This is really bad. One of the dangers of buying from ebay, and dealing with total strangers. Better to shop on MLP, where you know the reps of the sellers, be they private or dealers. Too bad we don't have an Audiogon for guitars.
