A piece of Rock history, Ritchie Blackmore’s 1961 Gibson ES-335 which he used in the Three Musketeers prior to Deep Purple, Ritchie used this guitar for the solo in the 1970s track “Child in Time” the 335 was his main guitar from 1964 to 1971 at which point he began to favor the Fender Strat.

The guitar is pretty much just as RB left it, it still has the original case with Deep Purple stencils, the finish is original as are the PAF pickups & all electronics, the playwear that you see is all Ritchie Blackmore inflicted from years of gigging & recording sessions.

The guitar has been the main exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame following the bands induction in 2015.

My buddy took this pic at the Rock Hall:

If that was his main guitar then why would he give it up?

If I had a main guitar that I used for years, and liked, I would still keep it with me even if I moved on to another brand/type.

Right, he did keep it, for 55 years. But Strats have been his main guitar for the last 50 years. He’s probably selling it as part of his retirement package, he’s gotta be close to 75. To him it’s just a guitar that he had for years and used it to make money with back in the day. I bet that you’d sell your main guitar at the right price, too.

On a side note, I saw an old Playboy After Dark clip (maybe here) and he was playing that guitar with DP. They did Hush I think. He looked funny playing a 335. I’m surprised he still owns that guitar after all these years.
